“In 2007, my wife and I moved to Kirkland, Arizona. Formerly Kirkland Junction, which the railroad still passes through several times throughout the day and night, is a very small town. There is no store or gas station, only a post office, a small school, several ranches and a very old historic motel, bar and restaurant. Not too many years back, the Kirkland Bar and Restaurant held ropings and cowboys would come from miles around to take part in them. And then according to local history, a hundred years or so ago, the establishment was known to provide entertainment by ladies of the evening. In this piece I bring those two times together, depicting what the Kirkland Bar and Restaurant may have looked like long ago on an evening after such an event,” said Bill Owen.
