Description
When a herd of cattle is being moved on open range, they can string out for a mile or more. Some cattle are weaker, some are lazier and some get hotter or tire more easily than others. Whatever the case may be, these cattle end up at the tail end of the drive, which is called the drags. They constantly have to be pushed to stay up with the rest of the herd. This painting takes place on the CO Bar Ranch in northern Arizona, where Vic Howell is Ranch Foreman.
