Description
The cowboy who works the rough brushy country in search of wild cattle is sometimes referred to as a brush hand. Often starting out hours before daybreak to reach an area they want to work, these cowboys: Ben Overson, Clay Tyree and Gary Halford have built a fire against the pre-dawn chill and are quietly discussing the day before them.
Note: This piece was created in 1993 for the annual Prix de West Invitational Show, held at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum (then known as the Cowboy Hall of Fame) in Oklahoma City and it won the Frederic Remington Award.
