Valerie Owen’s quote regarding this piece: “When Bill and I began dating this was the piece of art, in progress, that was sitting on Bill’s easel. It was completed for the 1999 Cowboy Artists of America Sale and Exhibition, which I attended with Bill for the first time. Ironically, the wife o the man who was drawn for and purchased the piece, was also named Valerie. In this piece, which takes place on the CO Bar Ranch, Everett Ashurst is the cowboy on the horse, who has roped the calf for the flankers.”
